REPORTS FROM THE 2017 NITP CONFERENCE/ AGM BAYELSA 2017 DAY 2

The Nigerian Institute of Town Planners 48th Annual Conference/General Meeting continued Tuesday 28th November with the Opening ceremony and Plenary Sessions.

The Bayelsa State Governor His Excellency Seriake Henry Dickson represented by the His Excellency Deputy Governor Rear Admiral Gboribiogha John Jonah declared the event opened. The Deputy Governor arrived on time with members of the state executive to declared the event opened.

Welcomed Address was delivered by the National President Tpl Luka Achi fnitp, while goodwill messages were received from TOPREC President Prof Layi Egunjobi fnitp and President of Ghana Institute of Planning.

The keynote Address was presented by Minister of Works, Power and Housing, Mr Babatunde Raji Fashola who was represented at the event by Dr Olakunde.

The Host Chapter Chairman Tpl Tarimobowei Ikposo welcomed members to the state and appreciated the institute for allowing the chapter which was formed six years ago to be the host of 2017 Conference/AGM.

Chairman of 2017 Confrence/AGM committee Tpl Lekwa Olugu Ezutah fnitp gave the vote of thanks to dignitaries present at the event

PLENARIES

The Lead paper was presented by Hon Eziuche Ubani from Abia State and Tp Amoako and Tp Opoku from Ghana.

For the first time,the institute introduced parallel sessions and this was termed to be successful. The sessions took place in four halls simultaneously with eight papers presented by various resource persons.

Tea break for the first time was continuous as members can take it at anytime, this act makes members to have well organized tea break.

The opening ceremony was colourful with the various attires put on by members from various chapters but Ogun State Chapter was on top with there colourful Green and White attires been appreciated by all.
