NITP Celebrate World Environment Day 2018: “Beat Plastic Pollution”.

The Nigerian Institute of Town Planners joined the rest of the world in celebrating this year World Environment Day.

The World Environment Day was a day set aside to raise awareness about protecting the environment, The day also enables one to be more responsible in the way they conduct themselves and treat the environment.

India is the global host for this year and the theme is Beat Plastic Pollution.

“Beat Plastic Pollution”. This year theme invites everyone to consider how they can make changes in their everyday lives to reduce the heavy burden of plastic pollution on our natural places, our wildlife – and their own health.

The Institute caution that while plastic has many valuable uses, we have become over-reliant and over dependent on the use of disposable plastics and nylon which have severe environmental consequences.

World Environment Day is the “people’s day” for doing something to take care of the Earth.
